ok you know how dracula has been portrayed in many stories and movies in many different versions? How do you think the original compares to today's version of the whole "vampire vs. Wolf" thing that is going on in this generation? like in the story of dracula he was the person that could control the wolves with a single look. but now they are in some kind of battle with each other?.. what is up with that? and how do you think the author would feel if he could see all that has happened to his "genre" of book, becuase with out bram stroker the age of the vampire would have not even exsisted, because it has diminished to stories such as TWILIGHT!? :S
what do you think?....
Overtime, things get changed, sometimes drastically, and this creates different versions and ideas of the same concept.
ReplyDeleteTimes have changed the storyline of some novels and I don't think this should happen and that the original should be the only one present.
i think the authors are pretty ignorant about the whole vampire history. But you know, maybe the author of Twilight wasn't trying to make a modern day Dracula, maybe Stephanie Meyer had the intention on breaking the rules of the vampire history and give us a taste of something new.
ReplyDelete@jessicee123, that could be true but its like she has destroyed the whole theme of vampires itself i feel that it is just another teenage drama, mixed with a twisted love story to appeal to the young adult mind which is very im sorry but DUMB!!... it is just so much drama drama drama!!! i just think it is a disgrace to true vampire genre writers everywhere!!!!!!
ReplyDelete@bamBAM Well, as an author, it isn't her duty to foloow through vampire history. She's just here to entertain us. Yeah, Twilight basically messed up the legend that vampires had, but she also rennovated vampires back to the 20 century.
ReplyDelete@jessicee123.. she does it by creating a new age of "hot" tan wolves in and "Sexy" vampires? yes it entertains us but it is stupid it is pointless
ReplyDeleteYes, it is stupid and pointless, but you gota agree that it's new and modern. I'm not supporting Twilight inany way, shape, or form, but all I wanna point out is that it's NOT the author's obligation to follow up on cerain aspects of vampire history. It's their book. But hey look at it this way: Twilight is probably a fad, Dracula is legendary.(:
ReplyDeleteok i can agree with that!... lets come to a conclusion that even though the new vampire genres are good but will never compare to the original!:)
ReplyDeleteExactly! Finally I completely agree. (: Yay! This discussion is over!
ReplyDeleteGuys we have to remember there is a reason why. The reaSON WHY dRACULA WAS MADE BECAUSE bRAM sTOKER KNEW IT WOULD APPEASE THE PUBLIC. hE WANTED TO CREATE A STORY ABOUT AN EVIL BEING AN ROMANCE. yes i do believe that Dracula is a hundred times better then twilght, but twilght was made to please the public. Teenage girls love to c hot guys shirtless and they also like the romance. Just like the people that read Gothic novels.
ReplyDeleteHave I ever told you guys how fun it is to see how your brains work? This is such a cool discussion of over 300 years of history and legend. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteI think that Bram Stoker would get on his knees and scream to the world "What have I done!?" but at least we still have the concept.
ReplyDeletei think that twilight is more appealing to younger people than dracula not only because of the things previously mentioned but most younger peopledont like to read if dracula was made into a modern movie well then dracula hands down there would be no comparision
