"It is commomly believed that on a certain night of the year-last night, in fact, when all evil spirits are supposed to have unchecked sway-a blue flame is seen over any place where treasure is concealed." (pg.22) This is the legend in the book i feel that it is a signal of dracula's coming. Sort of like his introduction into the book.
What do you guys think?...
I agree bamBAM the blue flame is sort of like an indirect intro to the book, foreshadowing the mystery and suspense to come.
ReplyDeletethank you i felt that this was a very important part of the book, because it gave the reader that first chill!, and it was the thing that would draw you in.
ReplyDeleteIt kinda introduces the first idea of the book being a Gothic novel. And makes it more mystical kinda in a way.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree with Jayybear it is introducing a mystical and sort of supernatural and supertisous factors to the story. There are many superstitous factors throughout the book, like when Van Helsing says that garlic will repel vampires. Also if you know vampire tells it describes on what to do with a vampire. One is that vampires can not enter a house unless invited in also you can use holy water, or a crucifix to also repel a vampire.
ReplyDeletelegends forshadow and guide what will happen in the book but they can sometimes surprise.
